The church of Nuestra Señora de los Dolores in Collado de Contreras, built between the 15th and 16th centuries, is an outstanding example of the religious architecture of the period. Its Plateresque façade, attributed to Juan Rodríguez, features granite sculptures with figurative and mythological motifs.
Among its artistic treasures are the 18th-century Churrigueresque altarpiece, a 15th-century triptych in English alabaster, and the 13th-14th-century carving of Christ of Miguelele in a polychrome Baroque altarpiece. The church also houses nine altarpieces from different periods and styles, and the apse, built in carved stone, has frescoes with trompe l’oeil elements. Every Christmas the church is part of the La Moraña Nativity Scenes Route, where the nativity scenes made by the neighbors are exhibited.
