Icon of the Madonna of Divine Love
The history of the Sanctuary of Divine Love is linked to the extraordinary event, which occurred in 1740, which saved the life of a pilgrim: From that moment and for 250 years the place became a pilgrimage destination for the Romans, especially after 1944, when Rome was spared from destruction during the Second World War.
There are currently two sanctuaries, the original one from the 18th century and a modern one, built in 1999. The church was included by Pope John Paul II in the pilgrimage of the Seven Pilgrim Churches of Rome during the Holy Year 2000, in place of the Basilica of San Sebastiano Out of the walls.
