The Sanctuary of San Felice all’Acqua in the Sacred Valley is a place of great devotion and spirituality, located in Cantalice, Italy. It stands on the site where, according to tradition, Franciscan friar St. Felix performed a miracle by causing water to spring from the earth to relieve the thirst of farmers and shepherds. Recently restored, the shrine is a pilgrimage destination. From late August to early October, masses and rites are celebrated there in honor of the saint.
Inside, a simple but elegant church houses a copy of the altar painting from the church of St. Felix in Cantalice, which depicts the saint with the Virgin and Baby Jesus. In addition, the shrine houses a nativity scene depiction that reflects Franciscan tradition, keeping alive the devotion to the saint and his connection to the figure of St. Francis of Assisi. St. Felix, known for his deep spirituality and love for Christ, the Virgin Mary and St. Francis, is remembered as a true son of St. Francis, whose legacy of love, respect and welcome lives on in the memory of those who knew him.
