The Church of San Juan de A Lastra, located in La Lastra, does not stand out for its architectural value, but it houses elements of historical and religious interest. It has a neoclassical altarpiece with sculptures of St. John, St. Francis of Assisi, a 15th century Virgin and Child and a Saint in the attic, all dating from the 18th century. It also has a silver chalice and a gilded metal parish cross from the same century. The church was an encomienda of the Sovereign Military and Hospitaller Order of St. John of Jerusalem, also known as the Order of Malta, a lay religious order of the Catholic Church that has carried out various charitable and humanitarian aid activities, including caring for pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago.
