The hermitage of Fatima in Valsera, is a place of great historical and spiritual value for the local community and for pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago. The hermitage, built in the 1950’s, is located on a site with a long history, as it used to be the site of the 11th century Romanesque parish church of Santa María, which was destroyed by fire in 1930. The current hermitage, dedicated to Our Lady of Fatima, is a place of prayer and devotion, as well as an important crossroads on the road to Santiago.
The hermitage faces structural and maintenance challenges, such as roof problems and widespread deterioration, that threaten its preservation. The locals are grateful to the pilgrims who pass through this place and who generously contribute their donations to the restoration of the building.
