The church of Santo Tomás Apóstol, in Papatrigo, is a red brick Baroque construction typical of the region. Although modest on the outside, with a solid bell tower, it stands out for its elegant interior, with neoclassical altarpieces, including columns, bases and pediments. The contrast between the dark sotocoro wood and the light tones of the vaults and the dome emphasizes its aesthetic. It is believed that Teresa of Jesus may have passed through this church in her childhood because of her maternal family’s ties to the place. One of the curiosities of this church is that three Vetton stone boars were embedded in the exterior wall.
