Tomb of St Clare, Gothic Church, Cross of St Damiano
Gothic style basilica built in 13th century to be the definitive burial site of St Clare of Assisi. The façade combines white and pink stone, From the right side of the nave you enter the Chapel of Saint George. Here is kept the precious Crucifix, which spoke to the young Francis in the church of San Damiano.
The walls contain frescoes including the Majesty of Puccio Capanna, there are also two important altarpieces dedicated to St Clare and to the Madonna with Child. The crypt houses the tomb of st Clare
