Plaque at Staderini Family Home Silvia Costantini

Staderini Family Home

Fausto Staderini, an engineer and owner of a printing press, and his wife Bice Gilardoni, transformed their private home into a sanctuary during the Nazi occupation. They courageously offered refuge to Bianca and Marcello, the children of their Jewish friends, integrating them into their already large family. Despite food shortages and constant danger, the Staderini family provided safety and affection, ensuring the children maintained a semblance of normalcy through study and play. Bianca and Marcello’s parents, hiding in a convent, occasionally visited, keeping hope alive.

Thanks to the Staderinis’ bravery, both the children and their parents survived the Holocaust. The bond formed during that time endured, with Bianca expressing her gratitude every October 16. In 2010, Fausto and Bice were recognized as Righteous Among the Nations by Yad Vashem, and their home was declared a House of Life. This house symbolizes selfless love and family protection, with a commemorative plaque reminding us that goodness can prevail even in dark times.
