The Convent of the Retreat of the Most Holy Annunziata del Poggio, in Orsogna (Chieti), was founded in 1448, inspired by Saint John of Capestrano. Over the centuries, it received donations, expansions, and reconstructions, but was destroyed during World War II and rebuilt in 1969. Its structure includes a single-nave church, a bell tower with two bells, two porticoed cloisters with a central well, and several sculptures and frescoes depicting scenes from the life of Saint Francis of Assisi. Inside, it preserves important works by Nicola Ranieri and Francesco De Benedictis. It also houses an ancient nativity scene, with pieces by Filippo Tenaglia and Nicola Ranieri. In the 1960s, the site was restored and enhanced, with a sacred path, a statue of Saint Francis, and a chapel dedicated to the Virgin of Lourdes.
