Hermitage of Our Lady of Fons Griega

The hermitage of Nuestra Señora de la Fons Griega, located at the entrance to Palacios de Goda, is a simple temple and a point of interest for pilgrims on the Camino de Santiago. Its current origin dates back to the 17th century, possibly replacing an earlier building from the 15th century, and is built in masonry and brick. The bell tower and the granite portal stand out in its structure, as well as a small pediment at the top of the church.

The interior of the hermitage has been restored, preserving a simple wooden beam ceiling and a Baroque altarpiece from the late 17th or early 18th century, decorated with Solomonic columns. The altarpiece has three aisles: in the center, an image of the Virgin and Child; on the left, St. John the Baptist; and on the right, St. Barbara. The hermitage is also the scene of festivities, such as the procession of September 8, celebrated for centuries and linked to the ancient brotherhood of Our Lady of the Fons Griega.
