The Eremo di San Michele, located near Bominaco, is a small hermitage nestled in a natural cave measuring approximately 12 by 6 meters. The cave houses a finely crafted golden stone altar, a smooth column on an off-center plinth, and a cistern. It is illuminated by a large natural window that creates a serene and mystical atmosphere. The sanctuary includes water collection basins and rustic architectural features, contrasting with the elaborate altar inscribed with a dedication to Saint Michael the Archangel. Tradition links the site to Saint Tussio, a hermit who lived there in the 11th century, and to Saint Onofrio, who is said to have visited in the 9th century. Today, the hermitage is a pilgrimage destination, with a procession held on May 8 following a Mass at Santa Maria Assunta in Bominaco.
