The Church of San Lorenzo delle Benedettine, a National Monument, is one of the finest Baroque treasures of San Severo and Apulia. Built in the late 18th century next to the Benedictine monastery, it features a superb Rococo façade in Apricena marble and an elegant bell tower crowned with a maiolica dome. Its unique central plan hosts three magnificent altars designed by Gennaro Sanmartino, with sculptures by Giuseppe Sanmartino, as well as frescoes, a refined wooden pulpit, and gilded latticework on the matronei. A positive organ from the 18th century recalls the famed musical tradition of the Benedictine nuns, who cultivated a rich liturgical repertoire including works by Pergolesi, Jommelli, and other Neapolitan masters.
