The Church of San Demetrio in San Demetrio ne’ Vestini, originally built on the ruins of a Roman temple dedicated to the goddess Ceres, dates back to the Middle Ages. It was completely rebuilt in the 17th century in a Baroque style and dedicated to Saint Demetrius of Thessalonica. The structure features a Latin cross plan with three naves and a central barrel-vaulted nave, while the side naves have groin vaults supported by square pillars. Notable architectural elements include a dome at the crossing and an ornate façade divided by pilasters, with a triangular pediment and a bell tower adapted from a 13th-century military watchtower. The church sustained significant damage in the 2009 earthquake and remains unusable as of 2023.
