The Sanctuary of Our Lady of Miracles in Casalbordino (Chieti, Italy) is a revered Marian pilgrimage site rooted in a miraculous apparition on June 11, 1576. According to historical documents, the Virgin Mary appeared to an elderly farmer, Alessandro Muzio, urging respect for the feasts days. The field he prayed in was spared from a violent storm, which was seen as divine protection. A chapel was quickly built, and devotion to the Madonna dei Miracoli spread widely.
Over the centuries, the sanctuary was expanded, notably in the 19th and 20th centuries, and crowned with great solemnity in 1899 and again in 1962. The current basilica features a Renaissance-style façade, a 37-meter-high dome, three naves, and a Latin cross layout. It houses the original miraculous image, restored in 1954, and various altars, including one dedicated to Saint Michael and another to Saint Benedict.
Today, the sanctuary is run by Benedictine monks and continues to attract thousands of pilgrims, especially on June 11, feast of the apparitio
