Relic of the Shroud of Christ
Gothic cathedral built in the 15th century on an old pre-Romanesque cathedral from the 9th century. It houses the Holy Chamber, the most important place in Spain where the most important relics brought from Jerusalem are found, among them “De Sudario Domini”, the cloth that wrapped the head of the dead Jesus. Other important relics kept in the cathedral are the Cross of the Angels, and the Victory Cross, which commemorates the battle of Covadonga.
Also noteworthy are its late Baroque Altarpiece, its Pilgrims Hospital, and in it, the centenary olive tree that, according to tradition, was brought from the Holy Land by a pilgrim.
