The Insigne Collegiate Church of Santa Maria Maggiore is the main Catholic church in Guglionesi, Molise, located in Piazza XXIV Maggio. Likely founded in the 11th century, it was transformed over time and took on its current Baroque appearance in the 18th century. It houses the relics of Saint Adamo Abate, the town’s patron saint since 1102. Inside, its richly decorated three naves preserve notable artworks, including a 16th-century Assumption altarpiece, a triptych by Michele Greco da Valona, and a striking silver statue of the saint. The 12th-century crypt is the oldest part, adorned with Renaissance frescoes and Genesis scenes.
