The Church of San Vicente Mártir in Peñalba de Ávila is a baroque building with elements from the 16th century, such as its granite belfry and ashlar chancel. The main chapel was built in 1618 and, in the 18th century, a baroque dome was added to the presbytery and the roof of the nave was renovated. Later, in 1987, the roof was renovated with a gabled structure. Its sober style and geometric lines reflect the spirituality of Avila’s architecture. The devotion to San Vicente Mártir, popular in ancient Hispania, still persists in the area.
