Church of St Mary of All Graces

The Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie in Guglionesi was built in 1643 alongside the adjacent Capuchin convent, over the ruins of the former “Castello da Piedi.” Promoted by Bishop Girolamo Cappello and blessed by Archbishop Giulio Caracciolo, it became a family burial place for the Caracciolos, Marquises of Guglionesi. The church features a straight-line brick façade with a simple stone-framed portal and a bell tower. Inside, the single-nave space includes lateral chapels, a raised presbytery framed by a triumphal arch, and a structure connecting it to the former convent. Over time, parts of the convent were repurposed as a school and later as a reformative prison.
