Church of Our Lady of Divine Grace

The Church of Our Lady of Divine Grace in Victoria, Gozo, is part of the Franciscan Capuchin friary built in the 18th century, after the order arrived in Malta in the late 16th century. The titular painting, attributed to Stefano Erardi, was commissioned by the Canons of the Matrice Church as an act of thanksgiving after the devastating 1693 earthquake spared Gozo from fatalities. The painting depicts Our Lady watching over a procession approaching the medieval chapel that once stood on the site. Today, the feast is celebrated in September and includes a charity motorcycle run. The church remains a site of Marian devotion and historical memory.
