Sanctuary of Madonna di Bisaccia

The Sanctuary of Maria Santissima di Bisaccia, located at the entrance of Montenero di Bisaccia, stands on a hill where a chapel once stood before being destroyed by earthquakes. Rebuilt in 1811 by Don Alfonso Gentile, it was expanded in 1840 and completed in 1899. The church features a tripartite façade with three portals and rose windows, a central dome, and a painting of the Madonna with Child dating back to the 13th century. This sacred image, linked to a legend involving a shepherd, is the object of strong local devotion, especially during the annual procession held on May 16.
