The Church of Our Lady of the Grotto (Madonna tal-Għar) in Rabat, Malta, is a cave-chapel with origins in a 14th-century legend. According to tradition, a local hunter who took shelter in the cave experienced an apparition of the Virgin Mary. In response, a shrine was established inside the grotto. In 1450, three Dominican friars from Sicily—Pietro Zurki, Andrea di Morsea, and Pietro di Platea—founded the first Dominican priory in Malta above the cave, dedicating both the friary and church to Our Lady. Despite suffering damage during the Great Siege of 1565, the site was rebuilt in the 16th century and today remains a serene religious and historical site surrounded by gardens and cloisters.
